In short. Every figure on Atlas is an estimate. Prices, shipping, duty, levies, VAT and delivery times can differ from what you actually pay. Confirm with the seller, your carrier and a licensed clearing agent or the Kenya Revenue Authority before you buy.
Estimates, not quotes
The “landed cost” shown for each item adds the item price, estimated freight, fuel surcharge, handling, insurance, import duty, levies and VAT. We calculate it from rates we set and update, using the weight and size you enter or that we assume. It is a planning guide. It is not an offer, a quote or a promise of the final cost.
Listing prices
- Illustrative listings are examples to show how Atlas works. They are not real current offers.
- Verified listings were checked against the seller’s page on the date shown. Prices, stock and specifications can change at any time after that, and we cannot see every seller’s changes. An amber date means the check is getting old.
- Prices are converted at exchange rates from a third-party provider. The rate your bank, card or seller applies will differ.
Customs, duty and tax
Duty depends on how customs classifies your goods (the HS code), where they are made, any exemptions or licences, and rules in force on the day of import. Our category rates are indicative averages, not a classification. VAT, Import Declaration Fee, Railway Development Levy and other charges change through Finance Acts and notices. Customs may value goods differently from the invoice. Atlas does not include every possible charge, such as excise duty, port or storage fees, inspection, agent fees, permits or last-mile delivery to your door unless stated.
Restricted and regulated goods
Some goods need approval or are prohibited or restricted, for example radio and telecom equipment (Communications Authority type approval), goods subject to KEBS or other standards, pharmaceuticals, food, chemicals and batteries. A product appearing on Atlas does not mean it is legal or permitted to import. It is your responsibility to check.
Shipping and delivery
Transit and clearance times are typical ranges, not guarantees. Delays arise from carriers, airlines, shipping lines, weather, inspections and public holidays. Chargeable weight, the dimensional factor and minimum charges vary by carrier. Use your own carrier’s or forwarder’s rate card for a real figure.
Third parties
Atlas is independent. Sellers, brands, couriers, platforms and data providers named or linked on Atlas are not our partners unless we say so, and we do not endorse them or control what they do. Brand names and logos belong to their owners. See Legal notices for any commissions we may earn.
